We had a really good day at the Pike Road Arts & Crafts Show on Saturday. The weather was nice. A little on the cool side to put everyone in the mood for Christmas shopping. It’s hard to believe Christmas is almost here. Keep an eye on the website for some Christmas specials coming soon.
Today I am working on products for the Pike Road Craft Show coming up in November. I have unscented soap ready to slice and I am currently making Magnolia lotion. I am out of both at the market. I hope I can get the Magnolia Soap made today also. I’ll keep you posted on progress.
- Lavender Basil Body Cream
I finally got out to the shop to make some Lavender Basil Hand and Body Cream. It smells so wonderful. A nice clean scent. We spent most of the day working on our Ninja Unit Study. I love homeschooling my boys. I am learning so much. 
Cosmetics/ beauty products is a billion dollar industry. Out in the market today are a range of products, mostly for women that are meant to beautify, improve and enhance. The skin gets the most attention, however. There are lotions, scrubs, toners, etc. that are created to make the skin smoother, whiter and more even toned. Creams are also widely used to achieve basically the same effects.
The most popular of these kinds of products are handmade shea butter soap. Only recently, a new kind of soap has become available. This is the exfoliating soap. This is the kind of soap that gently and gradually removes the outer layers of the skin. This outer layer naturally dies and sheds to expose a new and youthful layer. Needless to say, women love this and so the big sale of exfoliating soaps.
If you know somebody that just got married, it can be an exciting and a scary time for that new couple. Although they are undoubtedly very much in love right now, staggering divorce rates can put a damper on even the most enthusiast love bugs. So if you’re looking for a special gift that will remind those newlyweds what love and romance are all about, look into wedding gift baskets that will focus on the future.
While chocolates and treats are nice now, a far more meaningful custom gift baskets would be a basket full of the makings for a time capsule. The young couple can fill it with pictures of their wedding day, and they can also write letters to each other. Personalized gift basket is a nice touch for any gift. When you are creating a basket for your best friend then it can be pretty simple. If you know what they like, then shopping is easy. All you need to do is pick out their favorite scents or favorite colors. You can create a beautiful homemade gift.
There are a lot of hand soaps on the market today. People are always curious to know which the best to use is. Are foaming soaps better then liquid is liquid better then foaming? Doing a little bit of research will allow you to get the right answers.
Foaming hand soaps are considered gentler on your hands. It also has a better way to sanitize your hands. It is known to kill germs up to three hours after washing. It makes for a great kid friendly hand wash.
I do not enjoy the feel of bar soap. Though I have tried quite a few different types of bar soaps I have not found the one that I like. Bar soap doesn’t leave that nice clean scent that I am looking for. I feel like there is always soap still on me.
What I do prefer to use is shower gel. Shower gel comes in an array of different fragrances. I like to use my loofa and shower gel when taking a bath or a shower. It really gives me clean feeling and I smell fantastic after words.
Living in the Northwest, though it is beautiful, there are some down falls to it. When it comes to the drastic change of weather it really takes a toll on our skin. Our hands get so dry that we are constantly putting lotion on them every five minutes. No matter how much we put on, it seems like we can never get enough lotion.
Another ailment that we seem to endure is chapped lips. Just like our hands our lips can get really dry. Every season I search high and low for the perfect lip balm for my lips. I go through a lot of lip balm every year.
I recently attended our annual soap meeting. What a blast! I learned how to make several new items that I hope to add to my list of products soon. I also got to see some old faces and meet a few new soapers. It’s always a great time. We laugh, learn, and eat some wonderful food.
